Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a project organized by Samaritan's Purse. This project ships shoe boxes full of toys, clothes and school supplies to needy children all over the world. This provides a unique opportunity to show the love of Christ and share Him with children all over the world.

This fall, the Cradle Roll/Kindergarten Sabbath School class has decided to make this their project. The children are excited about gathering toys, packing the boxes and sending joy around the world to children just like them.

Ways you can help:
  • When you're out shopping, pick up a few things to be packed in the boxes. There is a drop box in the foyer for your gifts.

A few ideas for your gifts: Toys, School Supplies, Hygiene Items, hard candy, gum, t-shirts, a personal note and photo of your family. Please do only donate new items. Please don't donate any war play items (guns, knives, action figures); chocolate; out of date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items; aerosol cans. More ideas can be found at the OCC website.

  • Donate packing supplies such as standard size shoe boxes (cardboard or plastic; with lids), rubber bands, Christmas wrapping paper, labels

  • Donate money to help cover shipping costs for the shoe boxes. Each shoe box we pack needs to have $7 of donation money to cover shipping. Checks can be made out to Samaritan's Purse (note "OCC" on the memo line) or placed in a tithe envelope marked "OCC".

  • Join us on November 16, 2008, from 4 - 6 PM in the church fellowship hall for a packing and wrapping party. The Cradle Roll/Kindergarten class will be on hand to ply you with hot drinks and plenty of helpful suggestions on how to pack each box.
